“GUIDE lays everything out for you intuitively and seamlessly, so you can see what you need to fix on all of your pages. When you make the changes, your report gets refreshed in real time, so you can see your progress immediately. You don’t have to go to a third-party website and wait for an algorithm to give you results.”

Proactive

GUIDE can show you where content accessibility problems exist before you publish a page, so you don’t have to wait until the page is live to discover them.

Targeted

GUIDE identifies actionable issues that are in your power to fix and shows you exactly where you need to go in the CMS to fix them. All of the GUIDE tools are available at point-of-use while you are creating your pages.

Easy

GUIDE tells you what is wrong and how to fix it in plain English, so you don’t have to be a web developer or accessibility expert to know how to make your content accessible.

Shared

GUIDE is designed for everyone, not just admins or webmasters. All content creators have access to the GUIDE tools. Over time, GUIDE trains everyone in website accessibility best practices, so the entire load isn’t on the webmaster.

How It Works

GUIDE is built into the eChalk CMS, so all you need to do is activate your subscription to start using GUIDE with your eChalk website.

GUIDE provides reports that identify content accessibility problems on your eChalk website. You can use GUIDE reports to:

  • Find and fix content accessibility problems on already-published webpages. (Webmasters can even identify content problems on pages created by other users and identify users who need additional guidance on creating accessible content.)

  • Evaluate new pages prior to publication and correct content accessibility issues before the page goes live.

  • Track progress towards website accessibility goals with reports showing how the number of accessibility issues has changed over time.

Content Accessibility Reporting with GUIDE

GUIDE identifies 60+ content accessibility issues that are in the direct control of web content creators, including:

  • Missing or incorrect use of alt-text for visual elements

  • Meaningful Link Names

  • Readability of content to ensure it is written at a 6 - 9 grade level

  • PDF Warnings

  • Misused headers

  • Videos without captions

  • Contrast issues with custom text colors

  • Warnings about embedded 3rd party widgets

“After my training, I went back to my school and showed GUIDE to my master teacher, and she got onto the site and started fixing things immediately. It takes no time at all to learn.”

Zulay Martinez, MS. Ed., Assistant Principal, Schuylerville Preparatory High School
